Who can belly dance?  

Belly dance is pretty much for everyone!  All genders, ages, shapes and sizes are welcome.  Always check with your physician before starting anything new.

Why should I belly dance?

Belly dance is low impact and benefits can include improved posture and muscle tone, weight loss, stress reduction and body confidence.  Plus, it's fun!  Dancers say that it brings them joy and gives them time just for themselves- a break from the responsibilities of everyday life.

What should I wear/bring to class?

For class you should wear comfortable clothing, like you would to any other fitness or dance class.  If you are comfortable, it will help your instructor see your moves if you are wearing a form fitting or cropped top.  Some dancers prefer to wear a mesh middle leotard/unitard.  Dancers wear a coin hip scarf- we have loaners on hand or have fun finding one online in your favorite color!   We dance in bare feet, if you are able to, often wearing lyrical shoes for a little extra comfort for the ball of the foot while maintaining the abiity to spin and pivot.  No street shoes are allowed on the dance floor.   Don't forget your water bottle.
